Pricing
Every book is quoted individually, because the price follows page count, page size, binding, colour and quantity — this page explains what a quote covers and what moves it.
There is no price list here, and that is deliberate. Two books of the same page count can cost different amounts: one is perfect-bound in black and white, the other is a hardcover with colour plates. A quote written for your book is more accurate than a table of averages, and it is free.
What a quote covers
| Package | What is priced |
|---|---|
| Cover only | Front, back and spine at the measured spine width |
| Design only | Typesetting, cover, page layout and the proof |
| Print only | Printing and binding from your print-ready PDF |
| Design + print | Everything above, priced as one job |
Cover design is the smallest item on the list and can be ordered by itself: a manuscript that is already typeset, or a book being printed elsewhere, still needs a cover at the right spine width.
Each quote is fixed for thirty days and lists exactly what it includes, so a later conversation is about the book and not about what was meant.
How payment works
- A 50% advance confirms the order and starts the work.
- The balance is due before delivery.
- Invoices are sent by email, with the payment instructions on the invoice.
What moves the price
- Page count — more pages mean more paper and more press time.
- Page size — a larger trim uses more paper per copy.
- Binding — hardcover costs more than perfect binding, which costs more than spiral.
- Colour — a full-colour interior prints differently from black and white.
- Quantity — the cost per copy falls as the run grows, but the total rises.
- Design time — heavy tables, many figures and footnotes all take longer to set.
What is not in a quote
Courier charges outside the agreed delivery, and corrections requested after you have approved the proof. Both are quoted before any work is done on them.
